How would you suggest to someone they might be a poet or judge the real authentic poets from the debutantes?
What is the real definition of a poet, in concrete terms, and what are the essentials that make good poetry?
If I were to write: 'The days are lingering on the bough of the clock's
hands,
we each the seconds hold smiles and glares
to release the hour's of burdens we share,
Like dim prisons we escape each day,
forgetting the seconds were hours we played'
or something like this, would it make good poetry or a poet since 1) I made it up instantaneously or2)It stinks right out and can never mean I'm a poet; 3) That it's just ordinary or 4)That it shows potential of being a poet like an artist might show by drawing a brief sketch?
Just rambling and wondering, that's all. |
