Explanation will be one of most difficult part for ESL students, because the English grammar and spelling make difficult for them. It does not matter weather you like to use informal or formal English. You do need to use high level writing.
You can put the key words.
You can draw diagrams and figures to help the reader to read more easily, because they can instead a long paragraph.
Another big issue is to read the diagrams, some diagrams are very complex, light the key words what questions are asking. Apply your knowledge to help you so you can write the logic down.
Translator the table into graph, be careful do not draw the diagram read it first and try to desicrble your graph and why are you drawing this graph, even it is wrong you can still get more than a half mark.
Use the graph to do the calculation, if the graph is wrong, put the logic down that will save you.
Try to translator the table to make the graph in a straight line.
