What does the captioned phrase mean?

2017 National Grammar Day Haiku Contest
Fire up your fingers! It's time for the National Grammar Day haiku contest. It's becoming something of an annual event--but we don't like to commit, so we aren't giving it a number.

Well that's not something I've every seen before. My guess is it comes from "fire up" meaning "to start" (Miriam Webster "1 : to start (something) by lighting a fire We fired up the grill for the barbecue. 2 : to cause (something) to start working I fired up my computer and got down to work"), and I guess you have to use your fingers to either type or write the haiku.

Lorikeet:
Thank you.
Your reply reminded me of it that Haiku consists of 5-7-5 Japanese sounds. When creating English Haiku ,some kind of counting is done, which requires motions of figures.
