The part '— in the last week of time, people we’ve talked to, ' below.

How is the above phrase built into the other parts?



“We don’t have any evidence that that took place,” Mr. Nunes said at a news conference on Capitol Hill. “In fact, I don’t believe — in the last week of time, people we’ve talked to, I don’t think there was an actual tap of Trump Tower.”

Good question. That phrase doesn't fit grammatically. It was clearly someone speaking, not writing, and it looks like he suddenly tried to add more information in the middle of the sentence.

"in the last week" could fit there, but "people we've talked to" doesn't.

It makes sense, but there's no grammatical connection to the rest of the sentence.
