It is said that college in Japan is like a country club. Many study so hard until they get in college, but after getting in, everybody is having a good time except medical or dental students, or law students who want to be a lawyer in the future. Many seem to enjoy themselves engaging in the club or circle, or working part-time. Most graduate from college pretty easily and get a good job. Their training starts after they get into the company. Also their major does not matter when they get job. Therefore, they can choose their carrier from a wide range of fields. For example, even if your major is law, they can get into any kind of companies. Some people criticize it and say Japanese university needs to be tougher on students and make it harder for them to graduate.
In my opinion, it is a flexible and good system. Through part-time job, or socialization, they can be more prepared to get in the company to work.
