Would anyone be kind enough to help me with this word?
While I was reading "LOVE DOES" written by Bob Goff, I came across the following sentence on page 130:~ we ate fish and chips, and we said "quite" as we toasted each other with soda pops lifting our pinky fingers toward the Queen.
I just guessed the word "quite" means "cheers" in this context. |

| I'm sorry I have no idea. Maybe it is British. Unless it refers back to the previous sentence, because sometimes "quite" can mean you agree with what was said. |

The book says that the author and his daughter were in London, which had been her long cherished place to visit. So I guess they just tried to behave as the British would do like saying "quite", which I guess would sound more like British and lifting their pinky fingers when they drink pretending to be British.I just guessed the "quite" has a special meaning particular to British English or has a feeling that implies something British. |
