I cannot understand why letters C and I are circled.

“That scrambled word game” is how Jumble concisely defines itself. The brief directions tell us to unscramble four “ordinary words” of either five or six letters. It’s the first step in deciphering that day’s brainteaser. When you identify a word, you write it into an oblong area divided into five or six spaces for letters. Up to four of these spaces have been circled; the circled letters figure in the solution. A recent scrambled word was SCEXIE, with the second and fifth letter spaces circled. So figuring out the word is excise gives you an x and an s.

In this kind of word game you have two tasks to do. First you have to unscramble all the words and write them in the boxes. Some of the letters are circled. After you finish unscrambling all the words, you take all the letters that are circled and unscramble them to finish the puzzle and get the solution. Let me know if you still don't understand.

Lorikeet,
I still don't understand. What are all four words? In this case we are treating just one word SCEXIE.

I didn't realize you didn't have the jumble game. First, you can go here http://www.jumble.com/ and look at the game under "Daily Jumble" on the left side. You can see four words on the left to unscramble, and then the answer on the bottom. This is an example.

I tried to find one you could play, and the best I could find was here http://www.wordgames.com/en/daily-jumble.html Let me know if that works.

Lorikeet,
At last I got. Thank you very much for taking time to answer my question. My first question was about only a partial process in solving Jumble Word.
