It's true that family violence (also called "domestic violence") is a problem in America, but assuming this from the news is a problem. Even if the news is always the truth (and sometimes, it isn't), there's still the issue of what gets reported. In America, all the sources of news like to focus on "sensational" topics, like rapes, murders, car accidents, car chases, plane crashes, robberies, celebrity news, and domestic violence. If the newspapers and TV are always talking about these things, it's easy to get the impression that they are very common. However, this is not always true. |
