so we know the 0 dimensions : a point, or basicly nothing
1 dimension : a single line
2 dimensions : height and length
and 3 : height, lenth and depth
...but I've been wondering for quite a while now, what about a fourth one?
anybody have any ideas about that? |

Functionally it is time, but there is the mathematical concept of hyperspace or folded space.
Consider:
1 dimension = line = 2 points
2-D = square = 4 lines
3-D = cube = 6 squares
4-D = ? From the pattern, it should be 8 cubes! It's called a tesseract or hypercube. You can find all kinds of info on it on the Web including cool animations. |

I know scientists (or mathematicians) have managed to prove 13 dimensions so far (though all mathematically and I heard that we can't actually comprehend most of them outside of math). Have you heard anything of this and do you have any links or info about them. I've been wondering about it for awhile now. ???

Hayde - I read that somewhere too...but it just doesn't sound right to me... time's a concept, and not visual. we have time in our 3D world too.
Bob S - when I look at dimensions 2 and 3 I notice that, when you view them mathematicly as lines, they have value 0 when you project them on the other lines. however, I can't think of any way to add a line to that without it being a part of the previous dimensions. |
