The sentence is taken from an article about euthanasia. It goes: "When Lloyd Nickson dies, he will face his death with calm characteristic of euthanasia."

I feel the part that might be wrong is "with calm characteristic of euthanasia". In my view, the correct expression should be "with the calm characteristic of euthanasia." Here 'calm' is an adj defining 'characteristic', which is a noun. But there is a possibility that 'calm' is a noun while 'characteristic' serves as the defining adj.

So, could anyone tell me if the sentence is correct or not, and which one of 'calm' and 'characteristic' serves as a noun. Thanks for your view.

The sentence is incorrect.

Quote:
When Lloyd Nickson dies, he will face his death with calm characteristic of euthanasia.

If you put "the calm..." it is better. The meaning would be that calmness is an attribute of euthanasia. In other words..

..he will face his death with the calm which is characteristic of...

Good luck,

Corey
