The Spring Festival is the most important and rumble national tradition festival in the our country.
December 30th is New Year's Eve in lunar calender . In this day all families get together for a big dinner. After dinner we visit friends, play cards and watch TV. Some people play cards until the next morning.
January 1st in the lunar calendar is the first day of new year. At this time of the year, we buy presents for our elder members of a family and friends. Children wear new clouths. our Spring Festival is very interesting. |

Hello Marymao,
Thank you for telling us about the Spring Festival. After reading your post I wanted to find out more about the festival. I found a website that seemed to have good information:
http://www.china.org.cn/english/features/Festivals/78322.htm
If you have the time to read it I would like to know what you think about it. Is the information correct?
Please continue to write about your country and your family. I am looking forward to hearing more.

The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West. All people living away from home go back, becoming the busiest time for transportation systems of about half a month from the Spring Festival. Airports, railway stations and long-distance bus stations are crowded with home returnees. The Chinese character "fu" (meaning blessing or happiness) is a must. The character put on paper can be pasted normally or upside down, for in Chinese the "reversed fu" is homophonic with "fu comes", both being pronounced as "fudaole." What's more, two big red lanterns can be raised on both sides of the front door. _________________ love English! |
