Apart from Soviet Union and the United States, China becomes the third nation to send human to space. Although we are lag behind them for 42 years, we also make it finally. China's first astronaut has landed back on Earth after an historic mission in which he orbited the globe 14 times. It is a big step in Chinese history.

Thank you very much. I hope China will cooperate with United State soon, so that human can develop a higher standard of technology in space travel. At that time, we are all benefit from it.

And your country did an excellent job on their own, Eccentric! Smile Now, Yang Liwei will go down in history as the first Chinese man in space. I also heard that China is planning on sending a man to the moon.

china is just a beginner and has a long way to go .what china is doing is just repeating what russia and america had done forty years ago .it may take a very long time to launch a manned spacecraft to the moon for china . people are debating on why china should send a man to the moon these days ,for such a mission need not only high technology but also a lot of money .

You know, it may be that China will take over the lead in re-establshing a presence in space. Russia is broke, the US sprogram is riddled with safety and design problems that may take us years to recover from. If China can manage to incorporate those private businesses that want to take it to space, they may just move up. When people see that others are making money in space, things will change on a faster pace.

Now...will the US military/industrial complex ALLOW China to do that? That is an entirely different question.

Why not? China already put a man in space and I don't see the US protesting. And it's not like America would worry about China DEVELOPING nuclear weapons. China already have nuclear weapons.

Sending a man to space is just like operating an Olympic Game in Beijing, both activities can raise our national glory. I know space journey will spend a lot of money, Russia and United State still can not recover from the space race since 60s so far. However, I still satisfactory to see a Chinese in space. Its very exciting, you know? He is our hope! He made our hope success.

Yes, China is the new-comer of the space club, and although it have lag behind Soviet Union and America for about 40 years, but I don't consider that China is repaeting what Soviet Union and America have done forty years ago.
Forty years ago, Soviet Union and America launch the space race and finally Soviet Unoin was broken. But now no more space race between China and America. China has his own space plan, his own way to explore the secret of the space.
But if America, China, Russia and other coutries can cooperate in the space exploration, that will be a very very good thing, the progress will be greater and faster.
It's maybe a good wish of most people all over the world, but it is without regard to the policy.

I don't know how long between sending a man to the space and sending a man to the moon in technology, but I can know from TV that the PRC goverment have his space plan of establishing the space station and sending the Chinese to the Moon step by step.
I wish China would be more stronger and stronger and become a very important power of keeping the world peace, really peace.

40 years later, and that is an accomplishment? Chinese people must have a very low standards on what is innovation. That’s news? That’s "old" news. Come up with some new technological breakthrough, and I will be first one to congratulate you and your country. Sad if anything that China with all its might, was only able to copy a Soviet Soyuz Capsule after 40 years, and claim it as their own. Yeah, congratulation in copying someone else designs and inventions. I cant wait when China then will “invent” IBM and Apple computers all over again, and claim it as a great accomplishment once more in 20 years time<g>

Hello U-Jin,
I thought you would like to know that it was actually the Chinese who invented the rocket 2000 years ago. The only thing that America did was COPIED the Chinese invention and made improvements on it so it would take them to the moon. It was the Chinese who invented the FIRST ROCKET, and the Americans and the Europeans including the Russians copied it from China.
