Hello everyone,

Here are some sites with practice exercises and helpful information for anyone interested in English for Science and Technology:

Interactive EST exam preparatory exercises from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia including reading passages, skills and strategies of reading, and exercises in scientific method (see menu on left side). Don't miss the link to more practice at the bottom of each page.

Writing Exercises for Engineers and Scientists - If you look around this site you may find more than these two links:

http://www.writing.eng.vt.edu/exercises/index.html

http://www.writing.eng.vt.edu/workbooks/laboratory.html

~*~*~*~

http://www.schoolscience.co.uk/highlights.html#quiz

"The electronic resources on this site give users an interactive experience, showing some applications of the science that they learn in school. All the pages have some sort of interactivity, such as a glossary entry or a question to test themselves." (bottom of the page for quizzes)

The Society for Technical Communication, Guidelines for Writing Good Descriptions

This is a fantastic site which offers links to numerous glossaries and databases for a variety of subjects including many related to science and technology. You will need to explore this site. There is a great deal of information here. To give you an idea of what you can find, here are two links the site provided:

http://life.bio.sunysb.edu/marinebio/glossary.html

Onion Street is the BBC's website for students. Don't let the presentation fool you. There's a lot of good information here.

One of the best things you can do to "get the feel" of technical writing is to read current science and technology articles:

http://www.newscientist.com/news.ns

If anyone knows of other sites for English for science and technology please let us know.

I tried many methods. The best method was established communication, friendship with people from English speaking background. And speak with teachers a lot. I did my English course some time ago but still keep in touch with my teachers from English school.

first, i really appreciate your information.

second , i'd like to know how you found such useful information.
when i wanted to find some materials on the internet , i felt it was too hard to find out what i really needed, also on the found information page there are a good many wasteful messages. i could pay much time to look through some of them to identify whether they are the information i needed. it is toooo boring and wastes a lot of time. could you give me some help concerning some convenient and easy methods to find what i need on the internet.
