Yes.

To some extent, yes. "Argument" in it's ordinary usage is thought to be an illogical and angry shouting match.

Since argument is thought to be illogical and angry shouting, then it's suitable for me. because I am so nice. |

You can only say that because you are too young to have experienced the Carter years. Positively THE worst administration in my lifetime (and my lifetime goes back 6 administrations not including the current one).
Bush is merely mediocre with a mix of good (or nominally adequate) and bad (though I suspect what I consider bad, namely his open-borders policy, is different from what you consider bad). _________________ "It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood." -- Karl Popper |

I know what you mean Bob S. But I'd grant Bush the edge if your talking about being tops in poor results.
Carter is a much better diplomat than he was an administrator. But I'll pick poor execution of leadership over masterful execution of a self serving policy any day.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a bleeding heart liberal. I'm a fiscal and monetary policy conservative, and a social and foreign policy progressive. That may be the opposite of Bush - but Bush is not a conservative (or a Republican) by any stretch of the traditional sense of these terms.

Well I AM a "bleeding-heart liberal"
And of course, Bob, my personal experience with presidents only goes back to George Bush senior, but that's what history class is for. I still say Bush is THE worst president we've ever had.
Worse than Nixon.
Worse than Carter.
But you're right-- we do have different views, so of course we'll disagree on things like that _________________ peace-monger |

Good for you!
At your age, you should be - or something is wrong.

Since Abraham Lincoln got America into the most disastrous war in its history, with the biggest casualty figures, you could argue that he was the worst president. |

On that point, you could surely argue that.
It would be a valid argument - though somewhat myopic.

Reagan was a mean old man who cut off school lunches for poor children and put the money into an absurd space-based protection system that was never going to work.
He was good at reading the scripts written for him, but his reputation as being "the great communicator," a tag given him by his own spin doctors, was laugh-out-loud stupid.
Of course, that's just my opinion. Other people may have different opinions. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |

CP, I don't know what laugh-out-loud means here, I guess it might mean "making people laugh out loud", probably it implied something sarcastic?
That's my question, which is all about english, not about opinions. |

I don't like Bush, but I guess whatever president comes instead of him, I won't like him either. BUT I really hope the new president would not make so many wars like Bush. (Has he seen too many war-movies?) |

Yes, Red Rose, I meant that just hearing it makes one laugh out loud.
I might have said "spit-take stupid," for that matter. When an actor takes a sip of something just as another actor says something funny or surprising or idiotic, then the first one spits it out all over the place, that's a spit take.
The first time I heard Reagan called "the great communicator," I probably actually did a spit take. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
