Hello,
I am working for two month in a company with an Chinese boss?
I don't know enough about the Chinese culture. Have someone any experiences about Chinese?
My greatest problem is many people in this company use the first name. Is it normally to use the first name? I don't have the couragous the speak about the problem. One of the colleague says: You can't do it! He is the boss. I' have been waiting that he says anthing about this.
What can I do? What is your advice?

hi! I live in NRW, near Dortmund, and as you can see, I'm Chinese and have a lot of experiences about Chinese.
But I don't rteally understand your problem. If it doesn't bother you, can you pls explain it to me in Deutsch, again?

Meinst du "Vorname" mit "first name", oder meinst du "Nachname" mit "first name"? In China sagt man auf jeden Fall zuerst den Nachnamen und dann den Vornamen. (Zum Beispiel "Willis Bruce" oder Spears Britney") In China sind die Namen k�rzer als im Europa (meist nur zwei Silben) deswegen spricht man sie meist ganz aus.
Wenn du in China zu mir sprichst, musst du statt "Chen" zu mir "Wan Chen" sagen.

Aber es ist sehr unh�flich deinen Boss bei Namen zu nennen, deshalb sagt man in Deutschland "(Sehr geehrter) Herr Li" oder so. In China musst du stattdessen "Li xian sheng" sagen. (bedeutet soviel wie "Vor mir geborener Herr Li)
Andere L�nder, andere Sitten.

Surely it depends upon where you are working.
If you are working in Germany, you should address your Chinese boss exactly as you would if he were a German.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do. |

Ja, genau. Wo arbeitet Sie? In den USA, zum Beispiel, sagt man "Mr. Chen" oder "Ms. Wong."

I work in Germany. And in Germany is it usually to use the surname. |

In China it is, too. (Maybe more exaggerated)
NEVER use the first name!
