Norton is very good. McAfee is good too, but it slows down your system a bit.

If you don't want a virus in your computer you can use another software instead of windows

Trojan Remover is by far the best program in removing viruses. It does not slow your system down at all. This program can find things on your computer that Norton and McAfee cannot.

The bad thing about it is that it is not on all the time. You must run it. That should be no problem because you should run it every time you download something anyways.

I strongly recommend Kaspersky, especially the KIS (Kaspersky Internet Security Suite). I have used no less than 5 different anti-virus software and Kaspersky is the best and the most suitable one for me. If your PC has a good performance, I think KIS just fits.

I am a Nod32 user and I am happy with it. I tried a lot of anti-viruses before but they consume a lot of memory and do not were efficient. That's the reason I recommend Nod32.

Hello,

take a look at Avira Antivir or Avast!
Both of them are for free and much better than most of the expensive progs.

I selected PC tools because they sell both the FireWall and anti-virus.
Before that I was using Avast, but was not impressed with it, primarily because it takes too long to update the database. They say that their update program allows fractional update, but it takes so long that I am better off with simply replacing the entire database file.
I tried several other anti-virus programs, but found that they often clash with the FireWalls from other people.

Some people I know are not happy with McCaffee and Norton. Once those are in, it is very difficult to get them out. One person told me he had to reinstall Windows to get rid of all the Norton "tentacles" in his computer.
And so my choice is PC Tools Antivirus

(However, the Big Two seem to be the choice of people who have little knowledge of computers.)

I prefer Nortons. Never had a problem with it and it seems to always work.
