Hello everyone.

Is #2 natural and grammatically correct for the blank below? One of my friends insists #2 is not correct, but it seems OK to me.

If you want to New Zealand, you might as well visit ( ) in autumn.

2. there

I would write the sentence like this:

If you want to GO TO New Zealand, you might as well GO THERE in autumn.
