Hi! My name is Yukiko. I'm a junior college student in Japan.

The other day, I heard in a business administration lecture about childbirth adjustment in office.　 A working woman can�t have a baby when she feels like it. She must think about her job and her colleagues at work. I didn't quite agree about the idea when I heard it.
Recently in Japan, it is easy for mother to work, owing to the child-care-leave system and other systems. I am strongly opposed to mothers going to work.

In Japan, traditionally the father makes a living at work after marriage, and the mother attends to housework as a full-time-housewife in an ordinary family. When I was a child, my mother was a housewife, too. It is important for a very young child that the mother is always home.

In recent years, I heard quite a few children buy dinner at a store and have it alone at home. I can't bear to think of it! But recently in Japan, it seems that people think being a housewife is out-of-date.

I think it's important for someone to be there, but I don't think it has to be the mother. We usually had a baby sitter or went to our grandparents house. It didn't bother me all that much when we had to stay home alone though.
