Hi Wing!
You play "majong?" I know what majong is. My dad plays majong with his brothers and friends all the time. I thought it was a Filipino game. Maybe the Filipinos borrowed this game from the Chinese. |

Hello Diana,
Yes, mahjong, marjong, majong...(I forget its spelling) is a game that originated in China. Your version of majong may be different from ours. About half of my tiles have pictures of Chinese characters, and the remaining tiles are bamboo, circles, flowers and seasons.
We are making the clacking sound all day long during hols |

Hi!
I wish you a Happy Chinese New Year too!
I have noticed that there are a lot of chinese people in this discussions!
I'm from Spain and I don't know how you celebrate the new year.
What do the words "majong" and "bucks" mean? (Excuse my ignorance )

Hi Vivayo,
Making big bucks = making money.
Marjong/Mahjong is an ancient game played by four people. A complete Marjong set contains 144 tiles, usually made out of wood, ivory or plastic. The tiles fall into 4 categories: bamboo, circles, dragons and winds.
The rules of the game are rather complex, and vary from place to place. (Taiwan, Japan, China and America Marjong have their own rules.) Put simply, it is like playing card games like rummy.
As I cannot upload images directly on this board, if you'd like to know how a Marjong set looks like, please click on http://www.viptrades.com/browse.php?15 |

Hi Wing,
My dad plays with three other people, and they use tiles just like you do. The game does make a lot of noise. I think the Filipinos may have picked up the game from the Chinese because there are many Chinese in the Philippines. |

I know how to play mahjong.
In China, we always play it. But it is different form place to place! I know how to play Fujian's and Kunming's!
How many pieces do you have each one? 14 or 16? |
