Just looking for ideas, I guess. I'm an undergrad. psych. major at UW Madison. I was an A student my first two years, but I've been working full time + since early high school...my 2nd semester sophomore year I took off to move back closer to home...in the next year I got married, bought our first home, and started working 56+ hours a week along with going back to school full time. My grades obviously plummeted for a variety of reasons...I received several B's, one C, and failed two courses.

I've decided to take this entire upcoming year off to reorganize, and by fall we should be in a position where I can cut down to 24 hours a week or so. I plan to retake the courses that I've failed to get my grades back up...my school doesn't "replace" the grade, only averages them, so I will still have several C's.

I'm concerned about graduate school of course, with my GPA dropping so low. I'm also worried that my chance to get active in undergrad research will be nonexistent. I plan to give myself plenty of time to finish the rest of my undergrad degree, and should be set financially and in the rest of my life for graduate school...I just don't know how to pick myself back up and get back in the game to be competitive for grad. school.

I was thinking about taking a primate field research course in Central America sometime within the next year without taking it for credit, and I've become involevd in a child mentoring program.

Yikes, what a sob story! Anyone have any words of wisdom?
