Feng Shui is very popular nowaday. I think it sounds more reasonable than the horoscope but in many point of view it sounds like superstition to me.

I read the article when they talk a lot about CHI but I really can't imagine how CHI is real to us.

Do you think we should group Feng Shui as a horoscope or science?

either FengShui or horoscope makes no sense. they are all bull-s-hit. I don't buy the nonsense.

Here many Chinese worship FengShui as their rules, and I regard them as oddballs and silly people. Anyway, I don't see what's the connection between so-called FengShui and fate or anything like that.

I always have a good laugh at such ridiculous stuff.

Many Asians have moved to Southern California over the last 30-40 years, and many of them won't buy a house if the entry door doesn't face west or south, or if there is a stairway immediately in front of the entry door, and so on. It helps if the address has a lot of 8's in it, too, since that is a lucky number to Asians. And nowadays there are many Feng Shui experts for hire, especially for the Asians who want to build or buy a house.

Many developers, contractors, and homeowners now routinely make sure that the houses they build or remodel will be acceptable to the Asian community. Whether they believe in Feng Shui or not -- and of course most do not -- they know it is not smart to ignore what the customer wants.

Haha! CP knows so much about Asian superstition!!! Interesting...

Yes, 8 is a lucky number for Chinese people. we think 8 means "getting rich", because 8 sounds like Fa in Cantonese, and Fa means enrichment.

I dont know what is the meaning of Feng Shui exactly. But i often see it on Chinese swashbuckling film.

My parents intended to build a house in 2007 but their plan cancled cos fortune- teller said that this year was not suitable for building by reason: Can't not find the one who was of compatible age with my dad and my younger brother. As a result, in 2009 maybe i just live in new house Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad .
I admit Vietnamese people when they buy new house or build a house. They check everything. The way of a house is quite important. Maybe a house is huge property of their life.

There is an Indian version of Feng Shui called "Vaasthu" which literally means ventilation and which used to be a sort of architectural science in olden days. For instance the bedrooms should be on the south west as in this region that's where the breeze blows from; the kitchen should be on the east to catch sunlight which will kill germs; there should be an even number of doors to facilitate cross ventilation, and so on.

But nowadays there lots of rules, mostly superstitious.

But I think it is smart to take the sun and wind into account when designing a house.

Interesting that it means "ventilation." If I am not mistaken, "feng shui" translates as "air water" or something like that. You have to take account of the flow of air and water to see if it bodes good or ill -- in other words, "Vaasthu"!

When I was a child, I lived in my grandmother's house, countryside. my grandma was always my bed accompany every night. As you know, all children are afraid of the dark at night. But that's not the only reason that I was so terribly afraid of the dark, what's more--- right in my grandma's bedroom was a coffin! and the bed was right beside the coffin!

That coffin was for my grandma, back then she was about 60-70 something, but people at her age(maybe even younger) all needed a coffin to make sure they would be in a good or luxurious "palace" after they died, which made them stay secure, mentally.

That coffin really scared me at night. but my grandma said:"the coffin is a lucky symbol for this house and the family, and it brings us worth, according to FengShui." I just didn't get her. I didn't see the scary monster bring anything else to us, ...only fear to me.

I don't know where the all FengShui crap comes from.

Horoscope - no - I do like the concept for organizing things though. If you don't feel comfortable I don't think you can be as effective as you otherwise could be.
