By May 2009, Japan will introduce a new jury system, for the first time in Japan's history, in which ordinary citizens will take part in criminal proceedings as judge to help decide the outcomes of trials. A group of six citizen judges along with 3 professional judges will give judgment on a criminal case. There are several opinions to it. About 50 percent of people say that they dont want to join in it, if it is possible. A problem is that whether people who are not familiar with the law really can judge a man. In my opinion, I dont want to join in it because Im afraid of deciding ones life. What do you think about this? Do you think the system make Japan better? |

In the U.S, we have a similar jury system. Once in a while, we receive a juror summon. Upon receiving this summon, we need to go to the court to serve as a juror. |
