I remember when I was working in Pusan (South Korea) that the house I was living in had a large French window. When it was raining I used to lie on the floor, read a book or grade my students homework, and listen/watch the rain falling. Very relaxing.

Yeah, it is really nice to listen too...especially with a breeze coming in while laying in bed

It almost seems universal. I recently had a baby and we have a CD with sounds of nature on it. One of the tracks plays water sounds like rain and I like to hold my baby and we fall asleep to it. It's very relaxing.
