The article dates from year 2000, and it is know this topic has a huge controversy around it for over the last 10 years. I recognise I was one of this million Napster's users, as I am actually from webs such as Ares or E-mule. I understand that by downloading songs and other material, record companies (and not the artist himself) loose a lot of money but, why isn't anyone wondering how legitimate it is to sell CD's for 20? Or how can the internet help new (and not so new) artist to been known? Now I have the possibility of downloading a song for free, I listen to many artist for which I can end up buying tickets for a concert, for instance. If I had to pay for that music, I won't probably have done it, and so I (and as me, lots of people) wouldn't have ever bought a ticket or listening to the artist. I think it is a bit exaggerated and not fair for the whole community to perform this judgement on this issue. As I have said, there are other ways in which artist can earn money, as playing music at concerts. Moreover, as I have said, when albums are sold, the ones who earn the most are not the artist performing the material, but the record companies.
