By May 2009, Japan will introduce a new ďjury systemĒ, for the first time in Japan's history, in which ordinary citizens will take part in criminal proceedings as judge to help decide the outcomes of trials. A group of six citizen judges along with 3 professional judges will give judgment on a criminal case. There are several opinions to it. About 50 percent of people say that they donít want to join in it, if it is possible. A problem is that whether people who are not familiar with the law really can judge a man. In my opinion, I donít want to join in it because Iím afraid of deciding oneís life. What do you think about this? Do you think the system make Japan better?

In the U.S, we have a similar jury system. Once in a while, we receive a juror summon. Upon receiving this summon, we need to go to the court to serve as a juror.
