It is a short story that I have read both in English and Chinese. Its quite short but it is a good classical fabled story.
A shepherd-boy who watched a flock of sheep cried wolf for three times. At the first three times, his neighbours came to see what happened. The boy lied to them actually.
The boy laughed at them and the neighbours went back with anger.
The Wolf, however, did truly come at last. The boy cried and called help, but no one was coming to help him. His neighbours didnt believe him again.
The larger theme of the story is There is no believing a liar, even when he speaks the truth.
In my opinion, it is a good story to teach children to be honest. |
