When you are trying to reduce accent, you have to understand the details of the phonetic articulation of your native language and the language you are learning. This is the only way to make your practice meaningful.
For example, the sounds in many languages are articulated with a relatively small sound chamber (mouth not opened wide), but in English the mouth is opened much wider, which makes the tip of the tongue ineffective in manipulating the flow of air, this affects both vowels and consonants.
Once you know that, everything becomes clear and you can start with a meaningful practice.

Accent reduction is a good example, where "quality" (understanding) wins over "quantity" (hours of blind practice)
