The following sentences are an excerpt posted on one SNS.
I don't understand the bold part.
Can you please explain the grammatical structure of this?

So its been suggested to me, that I try listening to some Japanese (from native speakers not speaking slow) in order to help me get used to listening and understanding it. Being that I've only taken High School Japanese, there's not much immersion to the course, and My teacher won't normally ask you things she doesn't think you'll be able to understand. In doing this I get to practice a lot of pronounication and sentence structure (which is great) but I'm dying to be able to pick out a lot more words in conversation.

I'm not surprised!

"Being that" is wrong. Should be "Seeing as..." or something like that, meaning "In view of the fact that.."

and the second part "there's not much immersion to the course" is unrelated to the first part. It's a second problem, meaning the students are not given much time speaking only Japanese with Japanese people.

Hope helps,
Ian
