Hello,

I read a article about Indirect Speech in a grammar book.

It says the following two sentences are all right.

1. I asked what was the matter. (O)
2. I asked what the matter was. (O)

So, I wonder if the following sentence is right.

**** Do you know what is his name?

Thank you.

Well, for the grammar I learned and use, "I asked what was the matter" doesn't sound correct, although it is commonly used. The same thing applies to "Do you know what is his name?" I think it should be "Do you know what his name is?"
