What does 'ran that quotation by him' mean?
Reached by telephone on Wednesday, Mr. Barrack said that account was “totally false.” Mr. Barrack added, “It’s clear to anyone who knows me that those aren’t my words and inconsistent with anything I’ve ever said.” He said that Mr. Wolff never ran that quotation by him to ask whether it was accurate. _________________ Hiromichi |

It means he never read the quotation to him and checked with him first before writing that he had said it. |

Lorikeet、Let me ask you again to check whether I correctly understood.
Ran that quotation means showed or presented
quotation? _________________ Hiromichi |

If you run something by someone, you are usually checking to see if it's okay . For example, Before I decide to accept this invitation, I'll run it by my husband.
Before I put this quotation in the book, I'll run it by the person who I think said it to see if it's correct. In this case, he did not run the quotation by the person to check whether it was correct. |
