The interest of the universities mostly relies on firms- the demanders of labor, who are willing to pay more for the highly educated, in the belief that highly educated workers have more output than less educated workers. Bookworms, although have less or no experience for the work, are considered to have more human capital which the demanders would like to invest in to raise productivity in the future.
Experience is as important as knowledge. However, college graduates in the United States on average can earn about twice as much as those worker who end their education with high school diploma. Reality bites. |
