I have watched the Japanese version and the American version of "The Ring". In my opinion, I think the American version of this movie is better and scarier than the Japanese version. About you?

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. The Japanese version - ringu - is one of the scariest films I have ever seen. I am not joking when I say that I had to sleep with the light on for a week after watching it. One of the reasons it is so effective is that is eschews the typical methods of Hollywood horror directing with no sudden bangs or orchestra hits and almost no music at all. It relys on the viewers imagination to create its' chills, getting under the skin with sustained and building tension instead of merely making you jump out of your seat. The American version however takes what was a superb psychological thriller and mangles it into a run of the mill teen-squealer. There are many magnificent American horror films but this is not one of them. Another entry to the hall of unnecessary remakes.
