I am looking for suggestions on teaching numbers and time to students with very limited English. They are adults.

I am teaching adult refugees and recently completed a needs assessment.

While most are able to write their names, they all had trouble identifying correct letters in the alphabet and with identifying numbers.

Do you have any suggestions on teaching numbers and alphabet to adults?

Specifically, what textbooks or other teaching resources have worked for you? What assessment do you use? (for example, CASAS or BEST?) Thanks, I appreciate your feedback.
