I've actually left that place now, and bizarrely a lot of employees left after me. The whole place seems to be grinding to a standstill. Strangely, I had already tried exactly what you said. I announced the exact same thing - a reading club - over the company email, about 20 people replied instantly...

Hi there! I looked at your site a while ago when I was thinking of making my own resource site. I looked at yours and thought, 'naaah, mine's not gonna be that good' :) Layout - v. professional, hard to believe it's non-profit Materials - v. professional, v. attractive - colour pdf's are a great tou...

Hi folks, hi strider! This is v. interesting stuff. Making calls is a good idea, but only if they can call an office in an English-speaking country ;) Audacity is also a superb idea, but very time-consuming. I made up a list of situations and the kind of standard phrases that you would use in conver...

Hi trebor, I think online ESP tests would be pretty hard to come by. Is there any specific reason that you're looking for an online test? I'm guessing you want to cut down on marking time ;) I'm working on an online testing system that would allow teachers to customise and save their own tests, crea...

Hi, may be a bit late but there's a school in Tallinn that does a (I think) Cambridge certified BE course.

I'm interested myself- if you've found a place, let me know!

Some people spamming these forums are total idiots :D

Crikey, if I were his boss I'd fire him and have him flogged in public.

The guys I teach are in all areas- project management, pr, hr, promotion, sys admin, programming web and desktop applications, etc. They work on all platforms, programming in .NET, Java, DELPHI, etc, basically covering everything under the sun. Funnily enough, I find the situation quite the opposite...

I'm not sure I can offload all the blame on the management, although I'd like to  I guess someone more experienced/more organised in my position would make a better job of the situation. These guys, in theory, are all required to speak English. The company does software outsourcing, and their ...

Thanks revel :D Yes, you're absolutely right. I try to do that with the existing materials- following the structure but substituting the reading texts, exercises, etc. with something more 'appropriate'. However, my goal is not exactly to write a 'book' as such, but rather to have all those alternati...

I tried replying earlier but the internet ate my message :( Thanks for good ideas, some of that hadn't really crossed my mind. Yes, more or less first time writing a 'proper' course. I've done intensive residential courses before, but those were more just collections of exercises for conversation. I...

Biiiig project

Hi folks, I'm teaching in a software company, and after a year with the same small groups, everything is starting to fizzle out. I can't find any appropriate textbook courses (far less with appropriate structure and accompanying testing to keep motivation up) so in order to keep the whole thing goin...

Yikes! Seems everybody's staking their claim in the online EFL world!

I'm actually doing the same, but on a non-commercial basis. Darn slow programming on your own though, dontcha find?
