Open office and a white board. Mind you I like being able to see everything in writing up on the wall. Helps me visualize the organizational chart. Though the school I'm in currently has forced me to think three dimensionally given the overlap of responsibilities flowing up and down the organization...

Often students won't speak up when you ask them but later on they might be more willing to write down topics and so forth they are interested in. I try to have a weekly teacher's meeting of the Foreign Teachers and we take turns proposing topics to discuss after the meeting. So we'll have a general meeting to cover the various odds and ends that come up and then after wards we'll take a quick break before having a focused discussion on a spec...
