Hmmm you raise an interesting point. I think all of my adult students use some kind of translation to understand what they are doing. I know as a language student, I never really became fluent, and spent a lot of time translating things in my head. The major difficulty with translation in my opinion...

Speaking of websites, the U.S. Library of Congress has a website aimed at Junior High/High School kids which my adult students really like. It's called "America's Library" and has several sections. There is one called "Jump Back in Time" located at http://www.americaslibrary.gov/cgi-bin/page.cgi/jb
