New ESL teacher in NYC

Hello all,

This is my first time posting on this forum so thank you for having me.

I recently started as a NYC DOE teacher as an ENL/ESL teacher. The U.S. has a complicated system filled with so much protocol, testing, and external factors that directly (or indirectly) impact student learning as well as teaching. With that being said, I'm struggling. Is there anyone here from that background or anyone here who has been in the DOE in NYC/NYS or anywhere in the U.S.? I have so many questions and am really looking for some advice.
