What do you think are classroom expressions that EFL students must learn?

How do you say X in English/L1?
How do you spell/pronounce (this word)?
What does X mean?
Can you say that again, please?

Additionally,

May/Can I go to the bathroom?
What is the meaning of X?
Sorry, I'm late.
Sorry, I forgot my homework.

Analyzing Classroom Language - Description Theoretical and practical approaches to observing, analyzing and reflecting on the processes of classroom second/foreign language teaching and learning. Prerequisite

Don't forget directions for assignments
Write 3/4/5 paragraphs about...
Fill in the blank.
Underline. etc.
I work mainly with elementary students, but all studnets need to know how the teachers want them to do their work.

Very useful for beginners, and not just for the classroom:

Could I. . . ?
Could you. . .?

Here's what I always teach right away:

1. I don't understand.
2. Can you repeat that please?

in addition if the student is intermediate or adanced, I might teach:

3. How do you say_____ in English?
4. How do you pronouce _________?
5. What does ___________ mean?
