Which one do you recommend?

Hello to all;
I am new here and would like some of your opinions on which exam i should take.
Namely, i am a teacher and worked in an american high school in Macedonia, but to be able to work in my field here (Canada) i need to certify my diploma and one of the requirments is to take either Toefl or Ielts.
I have heard that Ielts is a little easier than Toefl, but am not sure which one is more preferable than the other.
