Let the legislature know that teachers deserve respect

Hi all, just a note to let you know that an effort is underway to once again cut teacher pensions. You can help take action to block this attempt at http://www.respecttexasteachers.com

communication is key

It is extremely important for us as teachers (both future and current) to make our voices heard. We must communicate with our local, state, and national government about the issues that are affecting us. I'm sure we can all agree that teaching is a full-time job and while efforts are being made to increase pay and standards, the more we make our voices heard, the less they can ignore the rising problem. Thus, we should call and write our state representatives and congressmen and congresswomen, forcing them to action. I am a firm believer in the power of people. Democracy is a beautiful thing. Yes, we need more funding and better pay, but we also need more people to come together and take a stand before any major changes will be made...end of story.
