Cuban professor interested in motivating students

Post by Angel Molina Montero » Mon Apr 03, 2006 2:03 pm

Hello, It is a pleasure for me to write my interests in this forum and above all I wish I were helped.
My name is ANgelo, I am 33 years old and I live in Cienfuegos, Cuba. I teach English at the Cienfuegos Medical school. I have been teaching Medical ESP for 4 years and I have rally enjoyed it, but I have been facing some difficulties since English in Cuba is taught as a foreign language. It has become very difficult for me to motivate students in the English class. I have been trying to do it by means of reading activities in which I try to use the language through the content. So far, I have got some good results, but I think it is far from enough.
I would really appreciate any suggestion, any help or just to know some experiences similar to mine.
Thanks a lot
A young Cuban Teacher who loves teaching.
