Teaching Interview skills in one to one tutorials

Post by Amy Roberts » Sun Feb 16, 2003 3:05 pm

I am currently about to start my first teching job, and part of it includes teaching interview skills in a one to one tutorial to a business lady. I would appreciate any ideas or good texts i could use, as this is all new to me and im a little nervous and worried... : :(

Hi Amy!

Good luck. I often have to teach one to one in Business English.
One gets used to it :-)

I found this link very helpful :!:

Role play

1. Role play as much as you can.
I try not to interrupt my students during a mock interview, and note all the points that I need to address later. It gives them confidence and a realistic idea of an interview.
2. Case studies: another very appropriate way to incorporate interviewing skills. Sort of like a "do and don't do" list.
3. Articles on recent research on interviews. I found one that said that more and more European companies are adopting the "American" way of interviewing.
4. Cultural differences are very important for an interview too.
