Instructor's 5th Annual Poetry Contest for Kids

Poetry is a wonderful way to get your students excited
about the magic of words. Invite your budding young poets
in grades K–3 and 4–8 to take out their pencils or cozy up
to their computers and get ready to enter Instructor's 5th
Annual Student Poetry Contest, sponsored by Wendy's
Deletree Conmigo, a bilingual spelling bee and
curriculum-enhancing program. For the best results, lead
students through a writing workshop process in which they
brainstorm, draft, revise, and proofread their poems before
submission. Poems can be on any subject and in any style.
Winners in each category will receive a Dell Computer
System courtesy of Wendy's Deletree Conmigo.

You can win: Winning poems and runners-up in each category
will be featured in the April 2004 issue or on our Web site
and at www.wendysdeletreeconmigo.com. Individual winners
will each receive a Dell computer system courtesy of
Wendy's (value: $500+). Runners-up will receive $25
Scholastic gift certificates.

How to Enter:

* Each poem must be the original work of a K–8 student.
Each poem must be titled. It may be in English or Spanish,
of any length, and in any style. * Poems may be submitted
in any one of three categories: English K–3, English 4–8,
or Spanish K–8. (Only one poem per child, please.) *
