ESP: American history and sociological values + Sociology of

I've been assigned two new courses at the university (next semester): American history and sociological values + Sociology of American cities

I'm looking for material (preferably authentic) that can be used (or graded for use) with intermediate language learners in Korea. The goal of the course is to get the students discussing the issues; we're not talking about people doing doctorates in sociology or anything. I think the kids want to learn about America and improve their English in order to get a good job.
