Hello and please help with finding a good TEFL course

Post by Sorcha » Tue Sep 08, 2009 4:22 pm

First, hello everyone :)

I'm Sorcha and I live in Belfast.

Myself and my partner are looking to start a TEFL course soon with the view of moving to Peru or South America somewhere to teach.

We're looking to move as soon as possible but have heard from others that there are many pitfalls and dodgy schemes out there - as well as there being countless institutions!

Ideally, we would be looking for an affordable course from a reputable institution, and included in the price the TEFL course, flights to the country and a job when we get there and graduate!

Other things such as insurance, accomodation etc are also important, are these generally included in the package or do some courses specialise in offering these?

I've looked through many, many websites and the only course based in Ireland I can find is I-to-I, can anyone verify that these people are reputable? However, unfortunately they don't offer learning TEFL and teaching abroad packages, so any help at all with this would be most appreciated.

We are both on limited incomes so price is an issue - however will sacrifice expense for a good deal on flights etc.

Neither of us have degrees, and we are aged 25 and 33.

Thanks a million for your help, and thanks to my lovely friend Johann who recommended this site :)

All the best!

S
