State Policies
If research shows that we should not prohibit the use of the home language for instruction, then why are certain states passing laws that prohibit instruction in any language other than English? Research also points out that it can take ELL students five to seven years to become fully proficient in English. With these facts being stated, how come more money is not made available to improve bilingual education? Is it because they are not many people advocating for ELL students?
