Research survey

Post by fitzp100 » Sat Oct 27, 2012 8:36 pm

Greetings. My name is Tony Fitzpatrick and I am an ESL teacher and a graduate student. An incidence of cultural insensitivity in one of the classes I teach spurred a research topic for the linguistics and teaching course that I am taking. If anyone has encountered student on student discrimination/prejudice/bullying or teacher on student discrimination/prejudice/bullying, and would be willing to share information, please private message me with answers to the following questions. I will respond to those who support the research with the results of the work.

1. Have you encountered discrimination/prejudice/bullying in the ESL classroom?

2. Was this student on student, teacher on student, or some other situation?

3. Was the event racially, religiously, or otherwise motivated?

4. Did you attempt to diffuse the situation, if so how? (Change of subject, talk about the problem, contact administration?)

5. What was the outcome? (Students removed, good discussion occurred?)

Any other comments would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all very much.
