PAPER WORDS is a short story about an immigrant student trapped in an English-only class and the difficulties she faces in a new classroom in a new country. This short story was one of the featured films at the 2012 California Assn for Bilingual Educators. Teachers and parents loved it! Why? Because it captured the issues of an immigrant girl trying to assimilate into a public school system and showed “out of the box” solutions for a difficult classroom situation. Created in 3D-animation, this visually stunning story is informative as well as being highly entertaining. Recommended for all audiences. To see a trailer, visit:

POETRY INSIDE OUT (PIO) is a film that follows several bilingual students and teachers over an academic year as the teachers use poetry to help improve language literacy. Students study the meaning of words in multiple languages to learn the deeper nuances of those words. The film shows how the teachers instruct the students and how to help inspire students to write their own original poetry. PIO is informative and fun for audiences.
