English for a Naval Engineer

Post by Mamainak » Sat Mar 09, 2013 11:14 am

Hello everyone,

I received a request to tutor an experienced naval engineer, who has been sailing on tankers and cruisers for years and managed to get by with his English. He'd love to improve his professional English in order to increase the chances for a job overseas.
I'm not sure where to start with him! I can't find much material to work from.
I'm sure he picked up some English terms for machinery and other profession-related terms in his years of work, but he can't spell them or recognize them on paper.

Most articles I find are related to yachting, fishing or old sailing boats, used for leisure.

So far, I found this, that I could use:

If you have any ideas for materials, let me know!

Thank you :)
