I wanted my students to practice writing because that happened to be their one weakness academically. I created a Wiki and I assigned it as a free writing project for my students to do for homework. We discussed it in class decided what we wanted to write about and created characters. I ran into the problem that some of my students had the technology and Internet access necessary to complete their assignments while others did not. Did I give up, no! I gave the ones that did not have access the opportunity complete the assignment after they had completed other in class assignments early. Was it an ideal situation, no, but they absolutely loved working on their assignment and went out of their way to write more than they had done the entire year. Now here's my question, has anyone else ever run across this problem? How did you handle it? What was the outcome?
